48V Solenoid (Relay Contactor) for Club Car DS and Precedent Electric — Replaces OEM 1019080

This aftermarket replacement 48V solenoid is the main switch between the battery pack and the drive system on Club Car electric golf carts. When you press the pedal it should close with a click and let current flow to the motor controller. A cart that clicks but does not move, does not click at all, or cuts out while driving often has a worn solenoid; burnt or pitted terminals are another sign.

Installation — difficulty: moderate (about 30 minutes)

1. Put the Tow/Run switch in TOW and disconnect the main negative battery cable.
2. Take a clear photo of the wiring on the old solenoid, including the small coil wires.
3. Disconnect the large cables and the small wires, then unbolt the old solenoid.
4. Fit the new solenoid in the same position and reconnect every wire exactly as in your photo, tightening the terminal nuts securely.
5. Reconnect the battery cable, set the switch back to RUN, and check that the solenoid clicks and the cart drives.
6. If you are not comfortable with this job, a golf cart mechanic can fit it for you.
