36–48V 275A Golf Cart Motor Controller — Replaces Curtis 1266-5201 / 1266A-5201

This aftermarket replacement motor controller is for 36–48 volt electric golf carts that use a Curtis 1266-5201 or 1266A-5201 controller. It is rated 275 amps. Common signs of a failing controller are no movement, jerky or weak acceleration, cutting out on hills, or the controller getting very hot.

Installation — difficulty: advanced (about 1–2 hours)

1. Put the Tow/Run switch in TOW and disconnect the main negative battery cable.
2. Take clear photos of every cable and wire on the old controller and label them.
3. Disconnect the cables and wires, then unbolt the old controller.
4. Mount the new controller in the same place and reconnect everything exactly as in your photos.
5. Reconnect the battery, lift the drive wheels off the ground and test forward and reverse slowly before driving.
6. If you are not comfortable doing this job, have a golf cart mechanic install it.
