48V 250A Motor Controller for Club Car Precedent Excel — Replaces OEM 103403401, 103403402 (Curtis 1515-5201)

This aftermarket replacement motor speed controller is for Club Car Precedent 48V electric carts with the Excel drive system. It replaces Club Car OEM 103403401 ("CONTROLLER, EXCEL") and 103403402 ("CONTROLLER, 1515, 250A"), and is the Curtis 1515-5201 type. A failing controller often shows up as no movement, jerky or weak acceleration, cutting out on hills, or fault codes.

Installation — difficulty: advanced (about 1–2 hours)

1. Put the Tow/Run switch in TOW and disconnect the main negative battery cable.
2. Take clear photos of every cable and connector on the old controller and label them.
3. Disconnect the cables and connectors, then unbolt the old controller.
4. Mount the new controller in the same place and reconnect everything exactly as in your photos.
5. Reconnect the battery, set the switch to RUN, lift the drive wheels off the ground and test forward and reverse slowly before driving.
6. If you are not comfortable doing this job, have a golf cart mechanic install it.
