Tie Rod Ball Joint Kit (Left & Right Thread) for Club Car DS, Carryall & Villager — Replaces OEM 7539, 7540, 1011893, 1011895

This aftermarket replacement kit has one left-hand-thread and one right-hand-thread ball joint (tie rod end) for Club Car carts. Club Car parts manuals list 7540 as "BALL JOINT, LEFT-HAND THREAD" and 7539 as the right-hand ball joint; Replace them when the steering feels loose, the cart wanders, the front tires wear unevenly, or a boot is torn and the joint has play.

Installation — difficulty: moderate (about 45–60 minutes)

1. Electric carts: put the Tow/Run switch in TOW and disconnect the main negative battery cable. Gas carts: remove the key and disconnect the battery negative cable.
2. Lift the front of the cart and support it securely on jack stands.
3. Count the turns as you unscrew the old ball joint so you can set the new one the same way.
4. Remove the nut and separate the ball joint stud from the steering arm.
5. Screw in the new ball joint the same number of turns, fit it to the steering arm and tighten the nut; fit a new cotter pin if your cart uses one.
6. Check or set the front-wheel alignment (toe) before driving.
