This aftermarket replacement rack-and-pinion steering gear box is for Club Car DS, Carryall and Villager carts. It replaces Club Car OEM 101878302, listed in Club Car parts manuals as "ASSEMBLY, STEERING GEAR BOX", one per cart. Replace it when the steering has a lot of play, binds or clunks, or the cart wanders even after the tie rods and ball joints have been checked.

Installation — difficulty: advanced (about 1–2 hours)

1. Electric carts: put the Tow/Run switch in TOW and disconnect the main negative battery cable. Gas carts: remove the key and disconnect the battery negative cable.
2. Lift the front of the cart and support it securely on jack stands.
3. Disconnect the steering shaft and both tie rod ends from the old gear box.
4. Unbolt the old gear box from the frame and mount the new one in the same position.
5. Reconnect the steering shaft and tie rod ends, then check the steering and front-wheel alignment (toe) before driving.
6. If you are not comfortable doing this job, have a golf cart mechanic install it.
